Kathy Griset’s path to success started humbly, working in a supermarket during college. After graduation, she was offered a management position but soon felt restricted by the glass ceiling. Determined to break free, she teamed up with former coworkers to start her own company. This venture led to an opportunity with an olive oil company owner, and in 1998, she successfully negotiated to purchase the business, allowing her to steer it in her desired direction.
Today, Griset leads Cibaria’s exponential growth as a wholesale supplier. The product line, which began with just one item—olive oil—now includes hundreds of oils and balsamic vinegars catering to retail, foodservice, food manufacturing, and soap making.
Griset, a single parent of three with no formal business education, relied on her instincts and experience to drive her success. She now sets the company vision, oversees financials, engages with customers, and even helps manage production on the factory floor when needed. She takes pride in launching many careers within the industry, watching employees rise from new hires to leadership roles. To expand her reach, she brought in a management team and a group of consultants to support Cibaria’s growth.
Her goal was to expand Cibaria from its modest beginnings. With industry respect and excellent word-of-mouth marketing, Cibaria is now a growing international company with a bright future ahead.
